ON YOUR DOORSTEP
Access to a private 200 acre garden is on your doorstep.
Meander through established woodland of beech, oak, and ash; through pastureland
and around the lake.
Perfectly placed seating areas mean you can escape and breathe deeply of this
magnificent countryside, or even picnic whilst glimpsing deer leaping and
buzzards soaring overhead. You are sure to see pheasants in the cornfields and
hear the occasional hoot of an owl.
Our all weather tennis court is open 365 days a year and is complimentary to all
guests. So, if you fancy yourself as the next Henman or Sharapova, then why not
take to the court. Rackets are available from the Spa reception and use is on a
first come first served basis.
Wellesley Park is home to a private fishing lake, situated in a neighbouring
field to the properties, with views across to Wells Cathedral. Fishing is
available to all guests however we request that all fish are returned to the
lake unharmed. Please note that it is essential that anyone over the age of 12
years of age holds an Environment Agency rod licence prior to fishing on the
lake. A licence can be obtained in advance of your stay from a Post Office, or
by telephoning 0844 800 5386 or by clicking on this link:

Well-managed public footpaths lead from Wellesley Park to Wells and a cycle route
adjoins the estate allowing you to explore the countryside at your own pace or
to access the more technically challenging mountain bike routes on the Mendip
Hills. Group excursions by mountain bike, and bike training (bikes supplied) are
available near Bridgwater, exploring the Quantock Hills.
If you wish to see rather more of the countryside with somewhat less effort then
you can soar in a glider from nearby Priddy airfield to 1500 feet over Cheddar
Gorge.
There are excellent golf courses nearby and high quality spectator sports within
easy reach: horse racing at Taunton and Wincanton, rugby at Bath, and county
cricket at Taunton.
